Summary of the project
The “Local Goals” Project will constitute the first step towards the territorialisation of ASviS’ national research and awareness raising activities on the 2030 Agenda. Local Goals aims to help the Emilia-Romagna Region to create the statistical instruments to monitor the progress of the SDGs, to analyse the current conditions of the local businesses on the themes of sustainability, and to use the gathered information to carry on awareness raising activities aimed at two target groups: regional policy-makers and businesses. The activities of Local Goals will have three broad goals. The first one will be the creation of a statistical database, integrating the data of the Emilia-Romagna Region with those of ASviS and of other verified sources, in order to execute a regional Base Line Review and to carry on awareness raising activities targeted to policy-makers. The second one will involve businesses, which will be encouraged to compile informational questionnaires on their sustainability levels, and which will see a change in the rules to access public funds by the Emilia-Romagna Region, in order for them to be based on the principles of the 2030 Agenda. Finally, Local Goals will collect the necessary information to assist in the creation by Emilia-Romagna of a Regional Development Strategy. All of the activities will emphasize the relevance of the themes of NOPLANETB.
Beneficiaries
- Officials in charge of sustainable development at the Region, politicians, companies and community
Overall achievements
In order to create a base line review of the Region, ASviS elaborated a file with 340 indicators, divided according to the 17 Goals of the 2030 Agenda, confronting the Emilia-Romagna Region with Italy and the EU. The final work, comprising over 200 indicators, was presented to the Chief of Staff of the Region’s President, with whom 70 indicators were selected for use in the Review. After presenting the set of indicators that observe the position of the Region, ASviS proceeded with the creation of an opinion poll that accurately measured the perception of citizens on the regional institutions and of the quality of the services they offer.
To ensure maximum dissemination, it was used the Sustainable Development Festival 2020, the largest Italian mobilization dedicated to the culture of sustainability. The Report on the Territories, launched for the first time in 2020, used, and expanded on, the data analysis methodology created for the Local Goals project. Local Goals was highlighted as the first element of the growing territorialisation of ASviS.
