Summary of the project
The aim of the project is to create a creative approach to degrowth issues in rural areas. During the annual “Feuer und Flamme” (Night of the Open Museums in Potsdam Mittelmark) artistic and creative interventions on the subject of climate change and degrowth are to take place in the Lehniner Institut and in the surrounding museums. As a result, these interventions are also suitable for population groups that have little contact with the topic in their own reality and that are also critical of it. The supporting program, consisting of organic regional street food and practical degrowth interactive activities for young and old, ensures that the themes are experienced not only artistically and creatively but also sensually. Close networking with local associations (fire brigades, sports clubs, music clubs, etc.) already in the preparation phase is intended to anchor degrowth topics in the villages and small towns in the longer term and to provide impulses for their own work. The modular degrowth interventions are developed together with the Lehniner Institut für Kunst und Kultur e.V. The institute has a pool of artists who are familiar with the development of sculptures, theaters and installations in public spaces as well as climate justice. Following the pilot project during “Feuer und Flamme”, a documentary will be developed which will enable the artistic-creative interventions to be integrated into other festive and event activities.
