Summary of the project
In order to address global issues like climate change, we need a broad and committed base of activists and thus we need to address target groups that have not yet been reached. The objective of “CO-CREATING CHANGE – LAB OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT” is to develop innovative projects in regard to sustainability-related topics in cooperation with young Muslims in Mannheim/Germany and its surroundings. A social incubator will wage a social media campaign that can serve as a shining example for all of Germany and even Europe. As influencers, these young people will not only affect their local communities and mosque congregations, but collectively they can make an impactful contribution (Muslims make up about 10% of Mannheim’s population) toward more sustainability in their city, as well as the realization of SDG 11. Through improved connectivity of Muslim youth with existing degrowth and sufficiency activists as well as activists in Christian communities, we want to establish new platforms of exchange and foster creative, action-oriented approaches. This way we anticipate long-term effects beyond the time frame of the project itself.
