Summary of the project

The project Changemakers for Good aims to involve and raise awareness with as many people as possible to adopt more environmentally friendly and sustainable practices in their community, by providing solutions. It lasts for 10 months, starting in May 2019 and ending in February 2020.
It is a project promoted by SAPANA, in partnership with Teatro Umano. It will take place in the Sampaio School Group in Sesimbra, with the collaboration of the Students’ Association, the Volleyball Association and the Sesimbra municipality.
The first phase of the project is still taking place this school year, with a conference and awareness sessions for some classes, intending to disclose the program and getting to know the target audience to identify the main changemakers.
During the summer, a beach awareness event will be organized with the support of the Volleyball Association.
The second phase starts at the beginning of the next school year and consists of empowering the group of students to become changemakers in school and in the community.
It is intended that they’ll continue the project, so the activities that will take place are: giving continuity to the awareness sessions, creation of a handbook of good practices, empowering the members of the students’ association and organizing an Open day to the community at the end of the project, to present the project results.
Sesimbra is next to the Arrábida National Park, which not only is a beautiful green area, but also has the most beautiful beaches of Portugal, welcoming many tourists throughout the year.
One of the major concerns of the Municipality of Sesimbra is the preservation of the park, and this project will complement the work already done and sensitize the youth and the community to the subject.
